Kiyon Ross on The Dance Edit
PNB's Associate Artistic Director Kiyon Ross is the latest guest on The Dance Edit podcast speaking about the evolution of ballet leadership! Kiyon and host Margaret Fuhrer talk about the importance of new works, the opportunities and challenges that come with being one of the few people of color in an artistic leadership position at a major ballet organization, about developing a vision for a more inclusive future at PNB, and more!

Sensory Friendly Nutcracker
Sensory Friendly
PNB is proud to present an inclusive, sensory-friendly performance of The Nutcracker on December 20 at 2PM. This performance features a supportive and welcoming environment so children and adults affected by autism or with other sensory needs can enjoy the shared experience of live ballet with their friends and family. Modified lighting and sound levels, fidgets, entry/exit privileges, trained staff, allowance of devices, and a quiet room will be offered at this matinee.
Thanks to our partners at Sensory Access for their help planning the event!
Meet the Apprentices
Meet the Apprentices
We've added five new apprentice dancers to the PNB team, and we'd love for you to meet them! Luca Anaya, Dylan Calahan, Rosalyn Hutsell, Larry Lancaster, and Destiny Wimpye were all Professional Division students with PNB School, so they all know the ropes around here. Click here to read more about all five of these talented young dancers.
PNB is Listening
PNB is Listening
Enjoy this new PNB is Listening episode! PNB dancer Dylan Wald moderates a panel of his PNB peers James Yoichi Moore, Lesley Rausch, and Leah Terada, all of whom have had to take breaks from their professional dance careers to recover from injuries. The panel talks about the mental and physical lessons of the healing process, their experiences moving through injuries healthily, and more.

In honor of World Mental Health Day (Oct. 10) we're resharing the episode featuring the conversation between PNB School Consulting Therapist and former PNB dancer Josh Spell and New York City Ballet principal dancer Megan Fairchild about her book, The Ballerina Mindset: How To Protect Your Mental Health While Striving For Excellence.

Did you know?
Last year's PNB School Performance included a piece by PNB School Faculty Member Eva Stone entitled, Shahar...according to plan. Originally created in 2017, Shahar...according to plan is inspired by the life and death of Ms. Stone's third cousin, Jacqueline Morgenstern. She was murdered in the Holocaust at the age of 12, along with 19 other children who were chosen for medical experimentation. Though her story is a difficult one to tell, Ms. Stone, "[...]wanted to create a work that brings forward the concepts of loss, family tradition, community belonging, and how to inevitably find grace in such ferocious atrocities."

PNB's Inclusion, Diversity, Equity, and Accessibility (I.D.E.A.) Committee is looking for at-large members!
The I.D.E.A. Committee is encouraging "at-large" membership in an effort to include and make use of the many valuable perspectives, life experiences, and skill sets of our larger PNB community.

Some examples of ways that "at-large" members could participate include:
•  Bringing ideas to the I.D.E.A. Committee for any of the subcommittees to work on.
•  Offering to help with specific committee needs (ie. language translation, event planning).
•  Supporting specific events (ie. extra hands on deck for Community Engagement events).
•  Participating in the I.D.E.A. Committee’s monthly media club activities (ie. book club readings and discussions).
•  Volunteering as a facilitator for I.D.E.A. Committee’s trainings of PNB staff.
•  Submitting stories, events, and resources that could be shared in the monthly I.D.E.A. newsletters
